Using tables for page layout

A table with border=0 is often used to create a layout for a page.

By using different colors for the background of cells in the table you can create an attractive layout with multiple columns

A spacer gif is a 1 pixel by 1 pixel transparent gif image that you can insert on a page and then set to any height and width to hold a space open.
